Sarah is a good friend I have been able to photograph, work related, for about a year or longer. This was the first time I was able to do a session with her not work related.

I feel 2013 is going to be a year of family connection and personal work. My beautiful supportive wife, Stephanie, will be giving birth to our first child in July. As an upcoming father, this is truly a gift from our Heavenly Father above. I can’t wait to spend countless early mornings and late nights with our children, I AM STOKED !!!
On photography . . .
I came across this passage while reading through one of Richard Avedon’s books… “If you’re doing a portrait, the interesting thing about a portrait is how it is observed. Each photo should reflect an instant in your life, it should have meaning, its not just pressing a button.”
Its not about how many photos or different angles you get, its about the moment.
As Sebastiao Salgado said in an interview, “I know when I put my zoom on my camera, and I try to get a picture, is because I’m not interested in my subject, I’m completely outside, I’m not concentrating enough.”
An established way of photographing models or clothes becomes too artificial, too static, too posed. What needs to happen is a combination of ambition, daring and vision, injects an element of spontaneity, naturalness. – Richard Avedon
